Celebrate the repeal of Prohibition with El Dorado County wines! Put on your suspenders, bow ties, hats, flapper dresses, pearl necklaces, and dancing shoes for El Dorado Winery Association’s 2nd annual Blind Barrel event on Saturday, July 15, 2017! We’ll bring the food trucks, live swing band and fine wine – all you need is an appetite for everything raucous, rebellious and Roaring Twenties. This year’s event begins at 6:00 p.m. at Lava Cap Winery, and tickets are $33/person, plus taxes and fees. Prohibition had a dramatic impact on winemaking in El Dorado County, prompting many families to produce wine in small batches in their homes and leaving the region with only one active winery by 1936. Now, nearly a century after Prohibition began in the U.S., El Dorado County is home to 70 wineries and the largest, most diverse selection of varietals on the planet. That’s what we call a cause for celebration! Keep an eye on El Dorado Winery Association’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages for news and previews of this year’s event using the hashtag “#blindbarrel.” Sip, sip - hooray!
