ReCreate would like to invite you and your coworkers and friends to participate in our annual Junk 2 Genius. This event is a raucous display of competitive creativity in which teams battle the clock to make masterpieces out of diverted materials. Here’s how it works: Each team of 2-8 people will be given 3 hours to turn a mysterious box of cast-off materials into a sculptural piece of art. Each team is required to bring their own tools and imaginations to turn this trash into treasure. This event is a great way to bond with coworkers and build teamwork! All proceeds will be given to ReCreate. ReCreate is a nonprofit dedicated to creatively reuse unwanted materials for use in art, science, and maker education projects. We work with businesses in our region to divert clean usable, but unneeded items for use in STEM focused hands-on making, building and creating. ReCreate provides model instruction for building student innovation and interest in STEM disciplines and to help develop future workforce for our region. ReCreate offers both in-class and after-school STEM enrichment programs. We combine reuse items and technology to inspire memorable learning opportunities through making. These priorities insure we are preparing our region's students to be well prepared to be the next generation workforce. Our priority is to offer these programs at low or no cost to the Title1 schools in the region, to insure STEM learning is available for all students/schools, not just the ones who might be able to afford it.
