Election 2018 is in full swing -- and now is the time to start figuring out how you're going to vote! Our next few "Policy and a Pints" will focus on the General Election ballot. We're holding discussions with panelists who, whether they are "for, " against" or "neutral," will give us the straight talk on local/statewide propositions and races, and what it means if you vote yay or nay on each. * Of the 11 propositions on the ballot this year, four of them are focused on housing. So that's what our first two "P&P" events are going to discuss. Join us at Antiquité Midtown for Part One of "How You Gonna Vote on Housing" as we take a look at: Proposition 5, about preserving lower property taxes for Californians age 55 and older who sell their home -- and the first proposition to dare approach changes of the (in)famous Proposition 13, passed 40 years ago Proposition 10, about giving California cities the power to significantly expand rent-control laws. EVENT TIMELINE 5:45 - Doors open 6:10 - Take your seats -- we're getting started 6:15 to 7:15 - Discussion on Prop. 5 - moderated Q&A, followed by your questions at the mic 7:15 to 7:30 - Short break to absorb what you've learned, and refill your glass 7:30 to 8:30 - Discussion on Prop. 10 - moderated Q&A, followed by your questions at the mic (All ticket sales go to paying for event/venue costs, and for audio production of the podcast that we put online for everyone to hear) And then come out to listen, ask questions and participate in "How You Gonna Vote on Housing: Part 2," which we're holding at Ruhstaller's brand-new taproom near Golden 1 Center) -- we'll be talking about Propositions 1 and 2.
