SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Today, the Sacramento Metropolitan Chamber Political Action Committee (Metro PAC) has announced new endorsements for the upcoming Primary Election, including Ami Bera for California’s newly drawn 3rd Congressional District and Mike Thompson for California’s 4th Congressional District.
“With so many pressing economic issues facing our country and region, this is a critical time in our nation’s history, and we must ensure our Capital Region’s voices are heard on matters that impact our lives and livelihoods,” said Sacramento Metro Chamber President & CEO and Metro PAC Board Director Robert Heidt. “The Metro PAC endorsed Congressman Ami Bera and Congressman Mike Thompson, knowing they have a strong history of building coalitions and are suited to represent Northern California with policy principles that align most closely with those of the Metro Chamber.”
A lifelong Californian who believes in putting people first and that Congress is a place of service and not politics, Congressman Ami Bera, M.D., has represented Sacramento County in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2013. In Congress, Bera has focused on expanding access to health care, streamlining government, and balancing the budget. He currently serves on the House Foreign Affairs Committee as the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on East Asia and the Pacific, and on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
As part of a working-class family and an Army Veteran awarded a Purple Heart, Congressman Mike Thompson understands the value of hard work and the importance of service to our country. The first to graduate from college in his family, he understands the struggles of working families and is a leader in Congress to help lower utility bills, provide tax credits, and advocate for the Ag community, so much of which is in his district.. Thompson currently serves California’s 4th Congressional District, which includes all or parts of Yolo, Lake, Napa, Solano, and Sonoma Counties. Thompson serves on the influential House Committee on Ways and Means, where he is the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Tax and a senior member of the Health Subcommittee.
